Learn to Camp!

Last weekend we were invited in Riding Mountain National Park to learn how to camp. Personally I have seen a few camp grounds in my life, but for others it was the first time.  Driving from Winnipeg at a little before 6am was already something new. I hardly get up at that time.

Way to go

The first thing was to dodge the thunderstorm that was hovering over Neepawa. Once that was done, my thoughts were for the coming two days, probably full of rain and thunder too. Arrived at the camp ground, however, the weather was

Underwater fireworks

A few days before Canada Day’s fireworks it’s always a pleasure to have your ideas and methods sharpened up for shooting the fireworks. In that spirit I went to the Red River Exhibition a few days ago to shoot the fireworks.

High winds often come together with clear skies. That’s the way we like it. Well, at least I like it that way. We don’t often get strong wind here in Manitoba, but when we do get it… it blows.

Lake Devonian

Lake Devonian, which is roughly the size of a few football fields would hardly be big enough to whip up some waves. Well, the wind was enough to get some white caps on it. So did this perturb every single soul and feather at Fort Whyte?

The dark night rises

A few days ago, I was looking for my phone but couldn’t find it. What better than to take a different phone and call yourself? It started ringing and I saw that there were quite a few messages waiting to be read. Ok, I understand that none of this is very interesting, but the issue was that there were plenty of message “sounds” but no messages at all.

Action!

It turned out that my phone was warning me for aurora or Northern Lights. So, the first thing I did was go outside and see if something was visible in the night. The only thing I saw was clouds, clouds and more clouds rolling in. Time to call it a night and go to bed.
