It’s that time of the year again. A time full of hope, full of good intentions. With it come pictures and images of cozy places, warm food and easy drinks.
As well as a few kilograms for the good intentions to take care of in the new year. Let’s see if those impressions or feelings are translatable into images…
The first image is one of a hectic place at this time of year: Polo Park. Shoppers are milling around with their packages, children and husbands. From what I saw, it was mostly the women doing the shopping there. The picture is of the lights, hanging from the second floor for the season.
Warmed Christmas trees
The Assiniboine Park Conservatory also has some treats for us. Nicely decorated trees, tasteful lighting… And most of all, in a warm place. No wind howling through your hair. Not that that is of a big concern to me…
A fountain of light
Outside, the Assiniboine Park is showing a fountain of light. Definitely a subject that can benefit from some Photoshop or a more inventive photographer than me 
.
Season’s colours
The English Gardens may have lost their summer glory, but are no less photogenic at this time of year. You are used to me shooting birds and other animals, this time of year is a time of contemplating the remnants of fall. But the colours of the season are definitely here, red and white.
Silent angels in the city
The city also does its best to make things nice and cozy. Even by –20C the angels are flying and trumpeting. In silence. The traffic below them is making all the noise necessary to dispel the warm feeling you should be getting from these decorations.
Neighbourhood lighting
So instead of going to the busiest places in the city, let’s go to some quiet neighbourhoods and see what is going on there. Some places are just filled with lights and you imagine yourself on the north pole in Santa’s back yard. Even more so when you get out of the car to take the picture.
The tree
No, better to stay inside and shoot the home decorations. This time I tried to do a setup for my picture and see if I could put some more feelings into it. I could have put the roasted duck and the rest of the meal on the table, but personally I like this picture better.
As for the food pictures, they are still to come. For now, shooting frozen food is not the best of feelings for Christmas…
