It was time to get a feeling of the surroundings in the Dominican Republic. So we trusted a "guy on the beach who was selling City Tours". Usually, there is no good reason to do such a silly thing, but hey, we were on vacation.

So we paid the guy his requested fee and he gave us a receipt to be presented the next day morning in the hotel lobby.

Being on a vacation means different things to different people. If you talk about a tropical island, most people imagine themselves on the beach in a lounge chair with a drink in one hand, or waiting for a coconut to drop and drink the coconut water straight from the tree…

It has been a while since I got away. You may have noticed an absence even here on my blog. Not because I have nothing to write about, on the contrary. More like there is no energy to write or do anything at all.

I guess we all know the feeling of being tired and no exit anywhere. All you can (or are allowed to) do is continue working and ensure everything runs smoothly.

A quiet start

After a tumultuous end of 2023, 2024 got off to a quiet start, photography-wise. The winter months in any country are often a bit limited in photo opportunities, even more, so if you are not moving around the countryside.

Nova Scotia is a big enough province to have plenty of opportunities, though. It’s just that I can’t often take advantage of that.

I don’t care anymore!

For years I have heard and even repeated the same information that has become a lie recently. And I am not even ashamed of it. When I repeated it, it was true, but not anymore. Today, it is a lie that still too many photographers believe and hold as fact.
